Regional Damage Prevention Councils

Exciting news!

First Regional Damage Prevention Council on May 1 in Tampa Bay.

We are a collective of excavators, underground utility owners, line locators, enforcement entities and other stakeholders that regularly gather to share ideas and discuss solutions to issues when it comes to safe digging – specifically focusing on ways to improve the process, increase safety and reduce damages.

About Damage Prevention Councils

Regional Damage Prevention Councils (DPCs) serve as a forum for all stakeholders to work with each other, addressing issues within the 811 system and developing solutions.

Each DPC has an elected chair and vice chair. They meet quarterly - or more frequently as necessary, supporting Sunshine 811’s vision “Florida - the safest place to dig” by:

  • Communicating, collaborating and coordinating.

  • Raising stakeholder awareness of the requirements within the Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act, Chapter 556, F.S. and the six steps to safe digging.

  • Identifying opportunities and partnerships to increase excavator and public awareness of 811 Before You Dig.

We Need You

We’re bringing together excavators, underground utility owners and operators, line locators, enforcement entities and other stakeholders to share ideas and discuss issues and problem-solves when it comes to the shared goals of improving safety and damage prevention.

Our goal is to have one regional Damage Prevention Council in each of the regions below. Your voice and perspective will help all involved in digging and excavation improve the process!
